YOUNG ACTORS SERIES

Picture
Picture
The Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education's highly acclaimed Young Actors Series gives students of the WTCAE the unique opportunity to showcase their skills through high-caliber, full-scale theatrical productions on the Warner's magnificent Main Stage and Nancy Marine Studio Theatre stage. Through intensive workshops and the rehearsal process, students will develop new skills and knowledge while experiencing a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Warner Education is thrilled to announce the reinvented Young Actors Series Program! Our new and exciting plan focuses on all aspects of theater, as opposed to individualized classes. We will still have our Winter and Spring productions, and anybody from the ages 7-16 is welcome to audition. Those who are cast in the show will be provided with a variety of workshops when they are not needed in rehearsals. Workshops will include subjects like prop making, scenic design, improvisation, character development, dance and more! Drop-ins are also welcomed to register for workshops of their choice, instead of participating in the entire production. Warner Education believes that this new arrangement will give students important educational opportunities, expand their experience in the theater, and encourage them to learn more than one side of performance. We are so excited to see everybody again!

For more information about the Young Actors Series, upcoming auditions, or workshops call the WTCAE Reception Office at 860-489-7180 x2.

A Christmas Carol
December 11 & 12, 2021
Nancy Marine Studio Theatre

This dramatization of Charles Dickens' classic, Miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who loathes Christmas, loses his business partner, Jacob Marley, on Christmas Eve. For seven years, Scrooge has run his business by exploiting his employee, Bob Cratchit, and has lain bitter treatment upon his family and acquaintances. However, this Christmas Eve he is visited by the doomed ghost of Marley who reveals that three spirits will visit him tonight: The Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future will shed light on the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change. The question is, will Scrooge die a miserable penny-pincher or seek atonement for his wicked ways? This abridged version of Dickens’ holiday classic is a delight for audiences of all ages and helps to remind us all that the ripple effects of kindness and compassion know no bounds.

FOOTLOOSE the Musical
June 11 & 12, 2021
Nancy Marine Studio Theare

One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

Approximate run time: 90 mins including intermission.
