This is a high-style, British romantic farce set in the Edwardian era. It requires highly trained actors who sing beautifully and have great comic skills. All roles are open to audition and are similar stylistically to characters in Oscar Wilde plays. British accents are required for all roles. There is also an ensemble of six to eight, all of whom play important roles throughout the play; solo singing required by all. All auditioners must be at least 18 years old.

Those auditioning will be asked to sing up to one minute of an uptempo musical theatre song, in the style of the show. Think: comedy, patter songs, Gilbert & Sullivan, Julie Andrews/MY FAIR LADY, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, etc. The song should show off character, different voices, facial expression, physicality & range. No ballads please!

Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing or recorded accompaniments will not be allowed

Auditioners should also prepare a short, engaging paragraph, no more than 3-5 lines, which is from a published work such as a play, novel, or even a children’s book, that shows off word play, comedy, satire, and good rapport with an audience, etc. No monologue length speeches. We would just like something quick that can act as an intro or narration to a character or situation. There will be no dance call at the initial audition. The movement/dance call will be held at callbacks.

Please note: Audition appointment spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first served basis.

DROP EVERYTHING…And Audition For This GREAT Show!
WARNER THEATRE Main Stage Production
Director/Choreographer – Roxie Quinn
Music Director – Michael Berkeley

CHILD AUDITIONS:
Monday, February 12, 2018 at 7:00pm (by appointment)
Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 7:00pm (by appointment)

ADULT AUDITIONS:
Monday, February 12, 2018 at 7:30pm (by appointment)
Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 7:30pm (by appointment)
All roles are open to audition. The cast requires thirteen men and seven women, ages 21-65 years, as well as a 10-14 year old non-singing boy and a 60+ year old singing female.  Most of the men are unemployed mill workers and all sing a variety of styles with considerable range, including challenging harmonies, while moving.  The women (except for Jeanette) all sing in a moderate Mezzo/Belt range, including challenging harmonies. Except for 'Nathan,' you must be at least 18 years old to audition; Nathan candidates must be at least 10 years old.

*If you are auditioning for Jerry, Dave, Malcolm, Ethan, Harold, Horse, or Keno, you need to be comfortable enough to perform on stage in your underwear, a g-string and eventually, “the Full Monty” to be considered for these roles. Trust is a key word for our production – you will be taken care of respectfully and our final moment will be powerful, yet careful. Wear clothing to auditions that reveals your overall body shape accurately. You will not need to undress at auditions.

There are some non-dancing and non-singing roles, but everyone will sing and dance at auditions.

Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars, but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized show tune, rock ballad, R&B or Funk style song (not from THE FULL MONTY) that showcases their vocal range and in a style that is consistent with the character you are auditioning for. This should be something that you are very comfortable with, not something you just learned the day before! It is important that you perform your song, not just stand and deliver. Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. No a Capella singing or recorded accompaniment.

Auditioners should also be prepared to read from the libretto and perform a brief dance combination that may be taught at the audition.  Please dress comfortably for movement.

PARENTS of Children auditioning for the role of "Nathan": Please watch the original movie and find an opportunity to read the musical's entire script BEFORE your young man auditions. The movie is Rated R for language and differs from the play in significant ways. The script for the play is available from the library, book stores, or you can contact us directly for a perusal. Nathan sees and hears adult-themed content and, critically, drops the f-bomb (says “f**k” once - no exceptions). This role is strictly for a young male performer: no girls auditioning as boys.

CALLBACKS:    Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 7:00pm (if needed)

Rehearsals will be held three times per week on Sunday (6:00-9:00pm), Tuesday/Thursday evenings (7:00-10:00pm) with one Wednesday evening rehearsals on April 4th because of the Easter holiday.  Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.

Tech week rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday, April 29-May 3, 2018.  We do ask that Friday, May 4, 2018 be held in case an additional tech week rehearsal is needed.  The pickup rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

If you are unable to make the mandatory tech week rehearsals and/or pickup rehearsal, we will be unable to cast you in this production.
