All roles are open to audition. We are seeking 2 men and 2 women for this production. Irish accents and dance experience are a plus but not required. All auditioners are asked to prepare a short folk or Irish song (one minute or less) for the audition.

Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars, but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized Folk or Irish song that showcases their vocal range and in a style that is consistent with the music of the production. This should be something that you are very comfortable with, not something you just learned the day before! It is important that you perform your song, not just stand and deliver.)

Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing, instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, MP3 Player or digital recorder will not be allowed.

Auditioners may also be asked to read from the script and perform a brief dance combination that will be taught at the audition.

Rehearsals will be held three nights per week on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-10:00pm beginning Wednesday, January 3rd. Tech week rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday, March 4-8, 2018. We do ask that Friday, March 9, 2018 be held in case an additional tech week rehearsal is needed.  The pickup rehearsal will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

If you are unable to make the mandatory tech week rehearsals and/or pickup rehearsal, we will be unable to cast you in this production.

The Warner Stage Company is a regional community theatre company and does not offer compensation or housing for performers.

ABOUT THE SHOW
THE IRISH… AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY is an uplifting musical celebration of all things Irish throughout the tumultuous 20th and 21st centuries through the eyes of Pulitzer Prize winning author, Frank McCourt (Angela’s Ashes, ‘Tis, Teacher Man). It tells the story of the Irish experience on both sides of the pond.  McCourt’s razor-sharp wit, coupled with his trademark bitter irony, and his boundless love for the Irish are all underscored by glorious music, including such immortals as “Danny Boy,” The Rose of Tralee,” and “Harrigan,” the works of George M. Cohan “Give My Regards to Broadway,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” and “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy” to modern day Irish rockers U2.

Original musical arrangements by RUSTY MAGEE

THE IRISH…AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY is presented by special arrangement with The Irish Repertory Company, Inc.
