AUDITIONS
Monday, April 1, 2019 at 7:30pm (by appointment)
Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 7:00pm (by appointment)

All roles are open to audition. We are seeking an ensemble cast of 6 men, 7 women and 1 youth performer for this production (see character breakdown below).  If we do not find a youth performer that fits the character requirements for Ben/Lisa, we will consider younger adults if they look age appropriate.

Those auditioning will be asked to sing up to one minute of a fully memorized of a pop/rock song from the 70s-today (not written for a musical) that is in the style of the show. The song should showcase the style and vocal range of the character for which you are auditioning.   Additional vocalizing may also be a part of the audition to determine vocal range and harmonizing skills.

Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing or recorded accompaniments will not be allowed.

A short dance combination will be taught, so please come prepared for movement. Please bring tap shoes if you have them.  Some auditioners may be asked to do a reading from the script.  Auditioners without an appointment will be seen as time allows. Video auditions are accepted for those unable to attend on the scheduled dates.

CALLBACKS
Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 8:30pm (if needed)

Rehearsals will be held three nights per week on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-10:00pm beginning Tuesday April 9th. We will do a read-thru of the show and hand out rehearsal materials on Monday, April 8that 7:00pm. There will also be two rehearsals on Wednesday evenings – April 24th and May 29th- because of Sunday holiday conflicts.

Tech week rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday, June 9 through June 13, 2019.  We do ask that Friday, June 14, 2019 be held in case an additional tech week rehearsal is needed.  The pickup rehearsal will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

Please have all conflicts for the rehearsal period available, and please note on Audition Form.

If you are unable to make the mandatory tech week rehearsals and/or pickup rehearsal, we will be unable to cast you in this production.

The Warner Stage Company is a regional community theatre company and does not offer compensation or housing for performers

AUDITIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
Please note: Audition appointment spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first served basis.

REMEMBER
Casting is subjective and completely based on someone else’s opinion. Sometimes casting decisions are based on looks, height, or how you look next to other cast members. You will not get cast in every role you want and sometimes you won’t get cast at all. If you are not cast in this show, you should still celebrate the fact that you gave it your best shot and we hope to see you at future auditions!

Click on "Read More" (below the audition appointment request form) for information about the show as well as full character descriptions.
ABOUT THE SHOW
It’s 1979, and New York’s hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for ladies, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction.  What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they’ve lost… or at least escape the killer rats.

Audiences and critics are wild for this hilarious homage to the era of bell-bottoms, platform shoes and the hustle. With larger-than-life characters, snappy dialogue and some of the most recognizable songs of the ’70s, DISASTER! will have you dancing in your seat and rolling in the aisles.
