No previous experience is necessary. However, we will attempt to break down students into groups based on ability and experience whenever possible. Groups are small (no more than 20 students) and led by an experienced instructor, as well as several counselors and teaching assistants. A supervised lunch period will take place daily. Students must bring a bagged lunch and beverage. Refrigeration is provided.
Special Guests
The Warner Theatre Summer Arts Program welcomes special guests each session. Past guest instructors and performers have included: Broadway actors, musicians from the world-famous Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, instructors from Artwell, Inc., Connecticut Dance Theatre and the Connecticut Storytelling Center.
Field Trips
Each session will have one field trip to a major cultural institution in the region. Past field trip destinations have included: Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, Sturbridge Village, Wadsworth Atheneum, Shakespeare & Company and more! Students will receive specific information regarding the field trip once their program session has begun.
Share Day
The last Friday of each session is "Share Day". Parents and family members will be invited to observe a fun and informal performance by the students, giving them the opportunity to share their new skills on stage.
