What the F@#k Was That? That's what people all over the world have been saying after seeing Evil Dead The Musical... the only musical in the world with a splatter zone.
For those who don't know, this hilarious live stage show takes all the elements of the cult classic horror films, Evil Dead 1, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness then combines them to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time.
Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It's all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons are telling bad jokes... and all to music.
The songs in the show are completely off the wall as well. Titles like "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons" and "What the F*@k was That" will have you rolling in your seats, and screaming for more and more blood. You don't need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show. You don't need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don't even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show. As long as you like having fun... this show is for you.
*Contains strong language*
Evil Dead the Musical is just as campy and bloody as you would dream it to be, but don’t plan on sitting OUT of the splash zone – come prepared to be a part of the show…the whole show…you never know what may happen.
*Everyone will be asked to sign a waiver form before entering Evil Dead the Musical at the Warner Theatre's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre. Maybe because we are worried you won’t make it out alive, maybe because your clothes may get drenched in the soon to be deadites, either way we recommend you wear clothes that you don’t mind having Shelly’s splitter splatter on it.
CHARACTER LIST (ALL ROLES ARE OPEN)
ASH: Hero and iconic character of the musical, devoted S-Mart housewares employee evolves over the course of the show from a cowardly college student to a wise cracking deadite slayer with his detachable hand chainsaw and 12 gauge "boomstick”; baritone.
CHERYL: Ash's sister and the odd woman out in the group, looking to spend a week relaxing, she is the recipient of Scotty's jokes and torment, the only one to sense the evil surrounding the cabin, she is the first to be possessed, turning her into an aggressive, foul mouthed demon that speaks in very bad puns, spends the majority of the show locked in the cellar; alto.
SHELLY: Beautiful, easy, and not too smart, Scotty's latest fling and looking to party, just because she becomes an evil demon doesn't mean she can't look good doing it.
ANNIE: The overbearing, sexy, explorer who finds missing pages to the Necronomicon and wants to reunite with her father to continue their research, very bossy and drawn to Ash, must be comfortable in a tear away revealing costume. May DOUBLE SHELLY, a random girl who Scott picked up drunk at a bar three days ago.
LINDA: The prototypical girl next door, sweet, thoughtful, and completely devoted to Ash, until she turns evil and tries to kill him, laughs an annoyingly inordinate amount of time after transforming; soprano.
SCOTT: Good looking, cocky, a prankster and Ash's best friend, thinks himself the brave one until he's forced to kill, then his panic leads him to flee, returns to warn Ash about the woods and attempts to help his friend even as he is knocking on death's door; tenor.
ED: Annie's coworker, boyfriend, and doormat, travels with her to the cabin to proceed with their research of the book of the dead, after turning evil, his confidence may lack but this "Bit Part Demon" is ready to sing. May DOUBLE MOOSE, a possessed moose head on the wall of the cabin.
JAKE: Stereotypical Southerner and reliable enough to help Annie and Ed find the path to the cabin, but too stupid and stubborn to listen to reason that will keep him alive. Good, old, and reliable. Seems to know far too much about the musical. Spends his time wandering the woods around the cabin.
FAKE SHEMP: Male. This role is basically all of the small roles in the show - the severed hand, the headless body, etc.
